Stockton man accepts plea deal in 2019 crash that killed Illinois state trooper

STOCKTON, Ill. – A Stockton man charged in connection to a March 2019 crash that claimed the life an Illinois state trooper accepted a plea deal in the case this week. Craig W. Dittmar, 57, pleaded guilty to reckless homicide and operating a commercial motor vehicle while fatigued causing death. Dittmar was arrested in April 2019 after Trooper Brooke Jones-Story, 34, was killed when Ditmer’s semi tractor trailer veered off the roadway striking the Jones-Story who was conducting a traffic stop on U.S. 20 north of Freeport. He faces three to 14 years in prison when he’s sentenced on Feb. 3, according to online reports.
