Plea hearing set for woman charged with illegally purchasing gun linked to Dubuque shooting

An Oct. 12 plea hearing has been set for a woman charged with illegally purchasing a gun linked to a Dubuque shooting. The charge stems from a firearm found at Elisabeth E. Kress’, 30, boyfriend’s home following a domestic disturbance between him and a 48 year old Dubuque man who was shot on July 19 at a Jackson Street address. Dubuque Police confirmed that the firearm cited in the federal charge against Kress is the same one her boyfriend used in the shooting. Kress is expected to accept a plea deal for making false statements while illegally purchasing a gun for a convicted felon.
