If you’re flying home for the holidays you’ll have lots of company

If you’re flying home for the holidays you’ll have lots of company. More than 3 million airline passengers passed through U.S. airports this week, disregarding calls to avoid Thanksgiving trips and making it the busiest air-travel period since coronavirus lockdowns hit in mid-March. The Transportation Security Administration reported the traffic based on traveler numbers at airport security checkpoints, and said screenings are still nearly 60% lower than this time last year pre pandemic. The CDC urged Americans not to travel during this week’s Thanksgiving holiday to mitigate the spread of the virus amid ever climbing COVID cases.

MEANWHILE…

Iowa (KCRG) – If you’re hitting the road to head to grandma’s house for Thanksgiving dinner state troopers say they aren’t seeing nearly as many people travelling for the holiday, leaving the highways empty this year. Fewer cars on the road also means more families staying home for Thanksgiving dinner, and grocery stores say they’re as busy as ever helping people with their holiday shopping.
