Free Face Masks for Dubuque’s Low-Income Residents

The city of Dubuque and the county board of health have started a program to hand out free face masks to low-income communities.

The program came to light after city officials got reports from store owners that people were sharing masks in order for everyone to be able to shop. Health officials strongly discourage even reusing masks, much less sharing them with others.

The city was able to acquire a large amount of free personal protective equipment through grants and organizations like the Mississippi River Cities and Towns Initiative (MRCTI).
