Delaware County rejected implementing countywide mask mandate safety protocol

MANCHESTER, Iowa – Delaware County rejected implementing a countywide mask mandate. County supervisors unanimously voted against the requested safety measure by the county Board of Health who were in attendance at this weeks meeting to make their case for the mandate to slow the spread of COVID-19. Also in attendance were several people opposed to the mandate who questioned the constitutionality of such safety protocols. Gov. Reynolds has maintained that cities and counties do not have the authority to issue such an order. The municipalities with mandates – including Dubuque County and the City of Dubuque – argued that they have the legal standing to keep their residents from harms way.
